Feature Thursday!

This beautiful seahorse ceramic switchplate was created by Beth Sherman at 'Honeybee Ceramics' ! She has many more wonderful switchplate nature designs such as birds, dragonflies, lizards, plants, etc... :) Beth also has a website which showcases not only her switchplates but also tile art! Really gorgeous work! Makes you want to put one in every room in the house or (Or in my case, on the boat :)))

'Pink Princess' Seahorse!

Here's the first seahorse from my new batch of supplies that came in a few days ago. 'Pink Princess'! I have 4 beautiful MOP button beads with a mosaic pattern, and it is perfect for 'cheek bones'. I love this design with the special wire embellishment all down the tail. Also, I have a bag of metal filigree triangles that came out perfect for the back fin and I strung three glass seed beads on it.Very cool effect! :)

Newest Seahorse Design!!

Three new seahorses that came out very cool!! I'm really getting into using different materials like shell, coral and very shortly, semi-precious stones. I have an order in the mail that includes a nice batch of small red branch coral and also some flat rounds to use as 'cheek bones'... can't wait! The cowrie shells were also in the batch of goodies sent to me by my friend Dawn... thank you so much Dawn!! :)

I have really been concentrating a bit more on the faces and also love the beaded look on the tail of the 'Elegant Blue-Bead' seahorse. I think I will incorporate that look into many more pieces. Can't wait to get my package and get started! :)

New Little Art Zine!!

Well I've finally finished my newest little Art zine! It's called 'Under The Sea' and features lots of drawings I did about ten years ago. I made them into a ton of stickers and just found them again. I placed a sticker on each page and then outlined it with red and yellow dot embellishment. It's an accordion fold style and has nice paper covers. After I finished putting a bunch of these together, I changed the design just a bit. I added names to each image and also created a cover so it can simply be folded and tied with a ribbon. No stiff covers needed. I like the paper cover look but I think expense -wise, a simple accordion folded zine with ribbon will be just fine. Anyway... It has a beautiful seahorse among the images and of course I had to add a the same seahorse image to the new covers :)))

I also just opened a new shop a couple days ago called 'Gentle Way' ... there is so much harshness in the world, I want to offer lots of soothing gentle things in the form of these little mini-books, zines, coloring books and cards, etc... :)

Newest Seahorse and design!!

I am so happy with this beautiful seahorse!! Thank you sooooo much to my friend Dawn for sharing some of her wire-wrapping stash with me so I could practice... however, it has become very clear to me that 'some have the gift of wire-wrapped jewelry' and 'others don't'! And I do not!! lol! My mind just continually goes to animals so I have decided to follow my heart and this is my first piece using some gorgeous Branch Coral! When I saw these pieces they instantly said "Seahorse" to me :)))

I also tweaked the design a bit more adding a touch of structure to the face and using wire for the circular 'cheek' bone and back fin. I also like the glass beads added onto the front to give more body shape. Still very abstract of course but definitely becoming a part of my new design direction. :) I will still do the recycled series using vintage jewelry pieces but I also want to branch out into other avenues of materials and a touch more structured designing.
